How much does it cost to join Kathryn’s Soul Choir?

Kathryn’s Soul Choir costs only £30 per month to join. Our costs are spread over a monthly period to make them more affordable for our members but it means you will still need to pay your monthly fee in the holidays.

How much is a taster session and am I obliged to join?

A taster session costs £10 and you are very welcome to come along and see if Kathryn’s Soul Choir works for you. There is no pressure to join but we are sure you’ll love it.

Do I have to read sheet music?

There is no requirement to read sheet music and we are a very inclusive choir. We mainly focus on ear training and vocal training to make your voice sound it’s best.

Do I have to have previous experience of being in a choir?

No, we only ask that you can sing in tune. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you haven’t been in a choir before. We will do everything we can to support you on your journey.

Do Kathryn’s Soul Choir perform live?

At the moment, we are building towards live performances and the John Marley Centre Fayre and Christmas events. We are also working towards a recording session.

Who Leads Kathryn’s Soul Choir?

Kathryn Lowdon who is a Mastermind Vocal Instructor who works from her studio in Newcastle city centre. She was trained by world renowned Vocal Consultant Greg Enriquez and she has coached the North East regions top talent such as Sam Fender.

Where is Kathryn’s Soul Choir based?

We are based at The John Marley Centre which is an English heritage site in Benwell. It is an art deco school which is currently being renovated back to it’s original glory and is full of artists from all disciplines such as circus performers, elite west end prep schools, a record store and cafe’, a gym, gardeners, pottery makers, elite ballet schools, curry chefs and massage therapists to name a few.

Is there parking available?

The John Marley Centre has free onsite parking available.

How do I get there on public transport?

You can get the 30, 31, 37 & 38 bus every ten minutes from Newcastle city centre outside The Theatre Royal or Newcastle Central Station. It is a 20-25 minute bus ride and the bus stops right outside The John Marley Centre.

What will happen on my first night?

We will ensure that our choir member, Peter will be at reception to meet you and he will show you to the room. Please don’t be shy, everyone is very friendly and welcoming!

What shall I bring with me?

You only need to bring a drink of water. We will provide your lyrics sheets. There will also be complimentary tea, coffee and biscuits on offer at break time.
